image of elicia hyderHello. I’m Elicia Hyder, a full-time writer and novelist.

When I’m not writing, I stay busy with my family and friends—many of whom are age 65+.

If you’re new here, you may have seen my card or “coupons,” which are often found at assisted living homes. If such a card led you to this site, welcome. I’m glad you’re here.

I volunteer at several facilities, reading stories, painting nails, and singing (often with my mother). My time and friendship is always free of charge, with no strings—except heartstrings—attached.

I’m truly blessed to be a companion and friend to so many.

In addition to facility group activities, I offer my time and volunteer “services” in a variety of ways. Some of these include:

  • Rides
  • Lunch & shopping
  • Reading & storytelling
  • Movie outings
  • Personal assisting
  • Nail file & polish
  • Decluttering
  • Laughs & much, much more.

Again, this is always at zero cost to my 65+ friends. Full disclosure: sometimes they offer to buy lunch and sometimes I let them, because dignity

A New Journey

I’ve been working and volunteering within the senior community for a few years now, and I’ve noticed something.

For all the right reasons, we’ve locked up this most-treasured demographic in really safe rooms. Safe, often, to wither away.

Ask anyone in senior care. There’s a real and growing need to keep seniors engaged.

This has led me to start a new non-profit.

Angel Care seeks to provide non-medical comfort care and companionship to the 65+ community always free of charge.

Weekly events and 1-on-1 visits and outings have been my life for the past few years. I’ve supported my mission through book sales and gifted supplies from my friends and readers. (I write angel fiction. Adorable, right?)

To take Angel Care to the next level—an official level—I need to fundraise. So I’m hosting my ever first art auction, over on eBay! Hopefully, this will be the first of many.

All proceeds will support the mission of Angel Care to residents age 65+ in middle Tennessee, and help to offset the administration costs of setting up a registered 501(c)(3).

You can also donate to Elicia Hyder for Angel Care or buy from this Amazon Wish List. At this time, donations are not tax deductible. but I am working on gaining non-profit status, so please stay tuned as Angel Care grows!
